Artist Arnold Belkin painted "Against Domestic Colonialism" in 1972 in MathewsPalmer Playground, Hells Kitchen, NYC.
He studied under the famed David Alfaro Siqueiros, Mexican social realist painter, who, along with Diego Rivera and José Clemente Orozco, established "Mexican Muralism."
This mural, "Against Domestic Colonialism" is his last remaining mural in the United States. Weather and wear has destroyed the vibrancy this mural once held. As the muralist working with Hells Kitchen Commons, the 45th and 46th street block association, I am looking forward to bringing this mural back into the public consciousness.
